Japan trip impressions

posted in: Japan, Kyoto, Tokyo, Travels | 4

Hi everyone,

My Japan trip is over. There’s so much to say and I will need to dedicate a few posts to this fantastic experience.

For this first post I just selected a very small selection out of tones of photos 😉 to convey my key impressions of Japan.

First of all, of course, here’s my dear friend Yoko, who lives in Tokyo and showed me so much of her wonderful city.

I always enjoyed the many beautiful and relaxing parks and temples.

It was so quiet in so many places. Japanese people are so calm and keep their voices down, not only in their parks and temples, but also in busy train stations and streets.

Check out some beautiful and elegant kimonos.

… Well the last one is no kimono of course, but I’d like to believe that I have worn one 😉

Once you’re in Japan you have to enjoy the experience of a traditional Japanese inn (Ryokan). We spent a night in a really nice ryokan in Oohara near Kyoto with hot springs. As you attempt to take on Japanese customs, it almost feels like being Japanese (at least for a day).

So many so called “salaried men” in black suits.

There’s plenty of delicious food and sweets. Don’t forget all the great green tea and sea weed variations.

There’s so much more…

    • Hi, I’ve just arrived in HK after 20 hours travelling. I will definitely post about this visit as well. Looking forward to exploring Hong Kong 🙂

  2. Their kimonos look so hard to put together! There’s so much art and culture in it 🙂

    • You are absolutely right it is really difficult to put on a kimono. I’ve tried it and it did not look anything like elegant on me :)))
I was very fortunate to have a Japanese friend who showed me a little bit of Japanese customs and culture. I really love Japan. <3
