Quick sushi roll made at home

If for some reason you have been intimidated in trying to make sushi at home just like me ;), then this recipe is a good start and shows you how easy it is.

What I love about making sushi apart from being a nutritious and delicious dish, you also can be playful and easily create your own signature sushi.

First, I place the nori on the bamboo mat with the shiny side down. I then spread the sticky rice on the nori with wet hands and place the chosen ingredients on top of it. Sushi can be filled with anything you like :).

Lift the end of the mat, then gently pull before rolling it over the ingredients, pressing gently to make a firm cylinder.

Use a wet sharp knife to cut the roll into small sushi pieces.

What you need:

  • Bamboo mat
  • Nori
  • Rice
  • Some lengthwise chopped vegetable (e.g. carrots, cucumber, avocado)
  • Lightly grilled Tofu

If you don’t have any sticky rice by the hand don’t worry you can also use regular rice or even couscous. Just make sure you add a bit more water when cooking for extra moisture and stickiness.
